Table Top Day

TableTopDay
To commemorate Table Top Day (Geeks of the world – Unite!), we played Takeneko and Ticket to Ride. We were too lazy to go anywhere and socialize, so we played some games our selves and had a game themed dinner.
Takaneko is such a beautiful and fun game. And you have a little hungry Panda to feed. He goes nom nom nom and eats pink, yellow and green bamboo.

For dinner, we also had pink (hot dogs), yellow (peppers) and green (celery) “bamboo”.

Ticket to Ride is one of the first board games we bought. We thought we’d learn some geography, but the game uses pre-WWI maps, so it’s quite pointless. Still a fun game.

One of our favorite card games is Gloom. We didn’t play it tonight (out of laziness), but our dinner was Gloom-themed with a couple of different types of tomb stones.
For those not familiar, in Gloom each player has a family of interesting characters and the objective is to make their life as miserable as possible and then kill them off. Hence the tombstones.

  1. Love geeky games! I have played Ticket to Ride, and I suck – takes some planning and strategizing to win, and those just aren’t my thing. I will have to look for the panda game – that looks cute. We weren’t able to celebrate due to other things happening yesterday 😦 Game on!
